Job Openings
Various openings exist within our group at all levels, we typically hire one or two undergraduates for the summer months, and about one new graduate student per year. We are currently advertising for postdoctoral positions. See below.
Postdoctoral Positions
The Quantum Theory and Ultrafast Spectroscopy groups at Dalhousie University are offering theoretical and experimental postdoctoral fellowship positions to participate in a multi-institutional collaborative research program in the area of Quantum Information Science. The primary aims of the research are the development of quantum hardware based on laser-induced qubit control in a small system of semiconductor quantum dots, and the development of protocols for the quantum treatment of Software Verification and Validation.
The successful candidates will benefit from close collaboration between the experimental and theoretical groups at Dalhousie, as well as with researchers at other institutions, and with our industrial partner. Substantial funding is available for travel to conferences and other research expenses. The ideal candidate for the experimental position will have extensive experience with ultrafast laser spectroscopy. Experience with micro-photoluminescence techniques is also highly desirable.
For the theoretical position, the successful candidate will have experience with some or all of the following:
- Analytical and numerical aspects of the quantum theory of relaxation and decoherence.
- The core algorithms of Quantum Computing.
- The essential issues and techniques of Software V & V.
Applicants should send a detailed CV and statement of research interests, as well as arrange for three reference letters to be forwarded to Kimberley Hall (experimental) or Jordan Kyriakidis (theoretical). The deadline for applications and all letters of recommendation is November 30, 2009, although applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
